KCOJ partners with Tyler Technologies to launch new CMS, enhance eFiling

KCOJ partners with Tyler Technologies
to launch new CMS, enhance eFiling

Marking a significant milestone in the Kentucky Court of Justice’s transition to electronic records, the Administrative Office of the Courts signed a contract earlier this month with Tyler Technologies to provide a new trial court case management system (CMS) and an enhanced electronic filing system. This next-generation platform will further advance the Judicial Branch’s move toward fully digitized court records.

Tyler Technologies was selected following an evaluation by a group of judges, circuit court clerks and subject-matter experts from the AOC. The Fortune 500 company stood out for its extensive experience with 21 statewide court systems nationwide, including the neighboring states of Indiana, Illinois and West Virginia. Tyler also serves North Carolina, whose unified court system is comparable to that of Kentucky. Additionally, Tyler provides website development and hosting services for the KCOJ website.

In addition to the transition to a new trial court CMS, a new eFiling solution with a redesigned user interface will be implemented.

Attorneys and their staff will have training opportunities before the new eFiling system is launched. To ensure everyone is prepared, both virtual and instructor-led sessions will be available.

A timeline for the statewide eFiling rollout has yet been established, but we expect implementation to begin in 2025. CourtNet will not be replaced but will be enhanced to include upgrades such as appellate case searches.

The Kentucky Court of Justice is committed to making this transition as smooth and effective as possible. We are excited to offer attorneys the opportunity to help shape the future of eFiling in Kentucky. By joining a work team, you can provide valuable input on the new system’s configuration and features. Your participation and feedback are vital to this process.
