Civil filing fees to increase July 1
|
Civil filing fees in circuit and district courts will increase effective July 1, 2026, as anticipated in the 2026-2028 Judicial Branch Budget. Revenue generated by these fee increases will contribute to the budget enacted by the General Assembly and represents critical funding for Kentucky Court of Justice operations going forward.
On May 14, the Supreme Court of Kentucky adopted administrative orders detailing the changes. Administrative Order 2026-15 amended the Rules of Civil Procedure, updating the fees listed in CR 3.02 and CR 3.03. Administrative Order 2026-18 established a flat $35 fee for certified mail service.

Kentucky Bar Foundation to Give $475,000 in Grants
|
The Kentucky Bar Foundation is proud to announce that we will distribute $475,000 in grant funding to legal aid, justice, and community-serving organizations across the Commonwealth at the Foundation's Annual Luncheon on June 12th.
|
This year, the Foundation received 59 grant applications, representing a 55% increase over the past two years, and reflecting the growing need for support of civil legal services and law-related programs throughout Kentucky.
For a complete list of 2026 grant recipients, click here.
This record level of funding is made possible through the generosity and commitment of our donors, including the Foundation's 31 new Fellows (4 Fellows and 27 Life Fellows) and our major donors: Dinsmore & Shohl LLP, Margo L. Grubbs, George E. Meng, James and Katherine Randall Park, John E. Selent, and Wilbert L. Ziegler. We also received support from the Judge Johnstone Award Dinner in Paducah and YLD's Honor a Colleague Campaign. Their leadership and generosity are helping expand access to justice and strengthen communities across Kentucky. The Foundation extends its deepest gratitude to each of these supporters for making this important work possible.
