The Kentucky Bar Association Health Care Law Section has the mission of increasing interest in the field of health law by members of the Kentucky Bar Association, non-members of the Association and lay persons. It has over 323 members and charges annual dues of $20.00.

The section carries out its mission by providing contributions to charitable and educational activities that promote health law, health law education or service to the public in medical/legal areas. Principal beneficiaries have been Doctors and Lawyers for Kids and the Access to Justice Foundation for children’s health and advocacy programs. However, we have also provided support to the University of Kentucky, College of Law Health Law Institute and other worthy organizations.

The Section also produces and sponsors continuing legal education activities. It has sponsored programs at the KBA Annual Convention and Kentucky Law Update programs. Recent programs have focused on the Affordable Care Act and health law issues of interest to general practitioners. The authors of most of the program materials and program speakers are section members. The Section has also sponsored or co-sponsored outside CLE speakers and programs.

The section hopes to continue its tradition of such service in the coming years. If you practice health law or just have an interest in the subject, we invite you to become a member.
